tips for your kids room apply to every other room and member of the household. It is very important for children to lead by example. Once they see a great example in YOU, they will be more likely to follow the example of a tidy parent or guardian.

You’ve probably happened by your child’s room and peeked in before, right? What did you see? Okay, so there is room for the tips in the post to be put to good use in your home. Kodac even held a “who has the messiest room contest.”

Your child’s room does not have to look like a tornado has hit the place. Regardless of their ages every child should be taught to take care of their belongings. They should care for them as if they saved up all of their allowances to purchase them. Mothers have taught for years that you should value your possessions.

Most kids when they invest in something do actually take a higher level of interest in its well being.

You should lead by example here. Show your children that you value your things. By picking up after you use things and putting things back in their places you are in essence teaching them what to do and not just telling them.

Sure - let your kids play and have fun. But the fun doesn’t really end until you clean up and put things back into their rightful or assigned places. Organizing room layouts and clutter reduction is not a luxury but a necessity. Adults or teens in the home are not immune from making messes to. When you are doing your gardening chores, this makes a mess. When doing the vacuum bag changes often makes a mess. Just clean up after yourself. At some point parents must teach these principles and not get caught up in constantly cleaning up after their children.

At the core here is respect. When a child is taught to respect their belongings they will likely respect themselves more. Parents must set the bar or minimum standard here. And don’t be afraid of giving your child some structure. That is what they really crave any way. This makes them feel more secure and well its just better for them and everyone in the home.
